Beau Young Logo

Beau, Wave, Buddha

The current (2003) and two time World Longboard champion Beau Young was introduced to me by close friend and surfing companion James Cox, who was a session percussionist on Beau's CD.

An ex Southern Californian surfer, James left the States in the late sixties on the search for the perfect wave. He eventually found his way to Australia and Byron Bay in the mid seventies.

Beau commisioned me to do an artpiece that could be used as the logo for the new Beau Young Surfcraft design model which is being produced by Surftech.

It is also to appear as the logo for the Beau Young band, which played at the 2004 East Coast Roots and Blues Festival. This was a great honour for Beau and the band as they are one of only a handful of local bands to be invited to play at Australia's largest and most popular Blues festival, featuring many famous international bands.

When I first met Beau I was deeply impressed by his sincerity, his love of life and the gratitude he felt for all the blessings with which he had been graced.

Here are a few words from Beau regarding the images portrayed in the painting:
"In my mind, Surfing, Art, Music, Philosophy and Life all intertwine. Beauty is in the Now. Thanks for the incredible art, Pete!!! "

This painting is reproduced in museum quality Giclee art prints, limited to an edition of 450 worldwide. Each print is individually hand signed by both the current World Longboard Champion Beau Young, as well as the artist.
